Mobile blog - Sushi feast!

Just got this MMS from my sweetie...

I was so tempted to grab sushi that instant!

I guess I know what's for Friday lunch and/or dinner!

Mobile blogs - Gerbera...

Transferred the lone Gerbera bloom to a small vase.

The thing was drooping on its stem, so we decided to cut it.

I wonder how long it will stay fresh...

Mobile blog - Grilling time!

Had a moment of good weather so we pulled out the grill and had some burgers!

Mmmm... burgers...

And of course, the food tastes better with good company. ;-)

Mobile blog - Welcome Spring

Finally, a change of season has arrived! Spring is in the air - and so is sprucing up the yards, and not to mention pollen allergies :-D

Cleaned up the backyard with my sweetie and we even got some flowers to plant around.

This particular one in the picture caught our eyes while we were looking for flowers in the nursery. It is a Gerbera, or so it says in the tag. Also got some primroses and pansies. Still hunting for some daffodils too.

Let's see how green our thumbs are!

Mobile blog - Green!

No, this isn't cabbage.

It's a green carnation! Yup, normally pink, this hybrid was grown for St. Patrick's day. When I first saw it I thought someone went through the pain of airbrushing a fake. But it's the real thing indeed!

Perhaps a special someone will get some... ;-)

Looks like someone needs a haircut.

Ashley, the Yorkie, sporting long hair and a ponytail. It sure helps her see more! ;-)

Mobile blog - Fresh Mango?

Fresh maybe not so, but expensive yes!

Reminds me of the wet markets back home where tons of vendors sell their stuff and haggling is the name of the game.

When I accompany my sister there, I'm quite impressed at how she scouts the items - be it veggies, fruits, meat, or seafood. She knows what to get and how to get the best price off of them. Talk about haggling expertise ;-)

Going back to these mangos - seeing them did stir up some good memories from my childhood days. Though I am still not willing to pay that much for it, perhaps I'd consider it if the craving was enough.

A good 'ol mango shake can definitely perk one up any day (as long as one isn't allergic to it, that is).

Mobile blog - Prawn/Shrimp feast

Had prawn/shrimp dinner that was meticulously and lovingly prepared by my love. Sugoi indeed!

For me, nothing beats home cooked meals, period. Specially when it is prepared with care and sincerity, and love. It can be as simple as a sandwich , or as intricate as Kare-kare or Pinakbet. But the point is who prepared it and how it is prepared.

Of course, the meals cooked by the professionals are good. That's why they're professionals in the first place. And it is their livelihood too. But as I mentioned, how food is prepared counts a lot too.

This reminds me of this anime, 'Yakitate Japan!', that is about an aspiring baker who always gives his best in all the things he makes. He stands out among the pros since his ways are unconventional and even 'naive' at times. But then he garners full respect from all once they try out his creations. Because it is how he prepared his food that made the mark. You can have the finest of ingredients at your disposal, but without the heart put into preparing them, it just won't come out as good.

If I were to pick between a full blown entree prepared by a master chef, and a simple meal prepared by my loving girlfriend... I'd pick her meal anytime, any day, any weather, anywhere, 24/7, 365 days/year without batting an eyelash.

You just can't beat that. Definitely priceless.

Can't wait for the next dish. ;-)

Mobile blog - Yaki!

Soba! Yakisoba!

Food from Mashita Teriyaki. I swear they really have good stuff there. And cheap prices too.

The serving is big, and I was thinking that it would be good enough for my lovely girlfriend and myself. And I bet she'll love it. ;-)

Yakisoba craving done!
